Questions/Answers
What does "ats" in sportsstatistics mean?
ok .... What does "Against The Spread" mean?
Against The Spread Basically the spread allows you to bet on a fair contest where the underdogs are given a theoretical points advantage. An example: so in soccer, Man Utd would be considered strong favourites against Hull therefore betting turnover would be low (1/7 isn't a workingman's price and no sane person would back Hull even @ 20/1 in a three 'horse' race) so bookmakers might offer Hull a 2 goal advantage to even the contest. In this example a draw or 1 goal win for Man Utd would count as a Hull win on the spread. The ATS stats relate to the wins, loses and ties according to the spread results, ATS stats are therefore more a means of jusging overperforming/underperforming teams rather than successful/unsuccessful ones which a traditional league table displays.
In sports gambling: what doesATS,Open, Current , 1Half,2Half, Side, Money & O/U mean?
Look at this link: http://www.vegasinsider.com/nb a/matchups/matchups.cfm/game_d ate/05-13-07/ Could you please explain it simply to me?
ATS=Against the Spread Ex. Bulls at Detroit -6 (minus 6). The Bulls are given a 6 point advantage for the game. Open= What the line opens at when Vegas creates the line. In that same example the line may open at -6 on Sunday. Current= What the line currently is at. The line may open at Detroit -6, if a lot of the public bets on the Detroit, the line may move up to -7 (minus 7) and the Bulls would be given a 7 point advantage instead. 1 Half= You can bet on just the first half of a game. 2 Half= You can bet on just the second half of the game. Side= Means you pick a side to win, either the Bulls or Detroit. Money= This goes along with the "Side" wager. In the same example, the Bulls may be listed at +200 and Detroit listed at -240. This means you have to wager $2.40 to win $1 on Detroit and if you wager $1, you will win $2 if the Bulls win. O/U= You can bet on the total amount of points scored in a game. If the Bulls/Pistons game total was listed at 184, you would either pick "over" if you thought the 2 teams will score more than 184 or "under" if you think they will score above 184. I hope this helps...Good luck!
