Is University of Phoenix agood school to attend if I amtrying to become a teacher?
I just acquired my high school diploma and I am interested in attending University of Phoenix. When I however filled out the application on line it said that my class was not available for campus classes only online. My ex whom works in college admissions in Jacksonville, Florida advised me to take classes to receive my associates degree. Will this affect me becoming a teacher or will it benefit me? And is the any other college I could maybe consider? Please Help!
If you are truly interested in becoming a teacher, University of Phoenix is a terrible idea. The U of P is a for-profit business, not an institution of higher education. Their representatives will try very hard to recruit you in order to get your money. Their instructors are underqualified, and students are routinely given high grades even if their work is poor, just so the U of P can continue to receive their financial aid. Do yourself a HUGE favor and avoid the U of P. Instead, you should earn a bachelor's degree in education at a state college. This is because each state has specific requirements in order for students to earn teaching certification in that state. State colleges are cheapest, and have the strongest education programs for prospective teachers. These programs will also include student teaching, which is a requirement for certification in most states. If you cannot gain admission to a state college in your area, then you could definitely begin by taking classes at a local community college. After you finish there, if your grades were good, and your teachers recommend you, you can then transfer to a state college. I wish you every success. The world needs good teachers!

Am i considered an illinois resident for admission purposes in the University of Illinois? My parents file income tax in the state of Illinois I am registered as a resident under my aunt's address I am a US citizen I have a Illinois driver's licence and am a registered voter I do NOT live in the US. I live in Asia. I am planning on going to Illinois for university If i'm not an illinois resident, is there anything else i could obtain that would make me a resident? Thanks!
You are an official Illinois resident. Congratulations! Living temporarily abroad does not take away your residency.
Am I a failure for quitting ona prestigious university?
I've been accepted to UCLA and I was planning on going and moving really far away from everything I've ever known and my support system. I didn't research my decision beforehand and when I went down to LA I didn't like it at all. Now, I want to just go to a local university but it was too late to enroll for fall semester. I feel like I set myself up for failure because I didn't think this through. Now I am disappointed because my life is on hold for 4 months until the next semester and all my friends are moving on.
YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE. Many students at schools like NYU and such are community college transfer students. Try to work hard, get great grades, and if you want to switch to a more presigious university, then you will surely have the option to. It's not about where you go to college, it's what you do there. I got into a prestigious university, but know that if I don't work hard, it'll mean nothing. Much less than someone who works hard at a non prestigious university. Cheer up. You've got your life ahead of you.
