Best web sites for new caractual invoice prices?
I'm in the market for a new car, but don't want to get played. I just want to spend no more than $500 over invoice. Besides edmunds.com, can anyone recommend some good sites for researching car prices (actual invoice that the dealer pays, not msrp)? Thanks!
Yahoo! Autos Keep in mind...What a dealer pays is invoice plus destination charge. Then they get incentives and holdback from the manufacturer that reduce their real cost to less than invoice. As for the internet not having the exact invoice price...not true. It's actually accurate. When I was shopping for a car recently, I wrote down the invoice prices from Yahoo! Autos before I went but I didn't show it to the dealers. Then during negotiations the dealers showed me invoice and it was the exact same amount. The dealers are generally open about this amount...probably because they know it's openly available on the internet. .
Do new car dealerships haveuniformity of prices indifferent parts of the U.S.?
If I want to buy a new car, will it be more expensive on Park Avenue in New York, e.g., instead of say some smaller town in an economically depressed area? Is there value in checking certain parts of the country? Or do dealers have to keep new car prices roughly the same?
Dealers can charge whatever they want for their cars...supply and demand. Different cars are going to be different prices..depending on region. A Ford F-150 will probably be cheaper in NY City as opposed to a Texas farming community...A lexus will probably be cheaper in that Texas area that it would be in New York City. Go to Edmunds.com..they can give you an estimated price that a particular car sells for in your area.
Do new car prices vary fromstate to state?
I live in Chicago and am planning on buying a new car. Indiana is about 15 minutes away and I'm wondering if I would get a better deal from there. I know that dealerships in the suburbs are cheaper than ones in the city. But would another state offer better deals?
Prices do vary by state. The difference is there will be no discount between the 2 areas as they are so close to each other. Areas where the economy suffers sometimes have smaller incentives compared to others. Most incentives are also based on regions and not states. why don't you research your car online at edmunds.com or go to the manufacturers website and do the same as well as check incentives for your region by typing in your zip code. You can then, if you research other zipcodes, check incentives there to see if different.
